Summaries of the meetings last week:
Monday, April 29, 2024 AM
• Nick Bates, Fairgrounds Manager, updates the commissions on repairs to the little beef barn and the irrigation system near the arena. They discuss how to approach repairing the snow damage to the horse barn.
• Maurice Goodall, appearing as a private citizen, explains how a building on a parcel next to one he owns is egregiously violating the setbacks for the lot. The commissioners discuss how the problem happened and possible solutions. Commissioner Branch thinks the discuss of solutions should continue in executive session.
• Commissioners hold an executive session for 20 minutes, under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i)—existing litigation, inviting Pete Palmer, Planning Director and Esther Milner, Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor.
• Commissioners adjourn for the day at 12:00.

Tuesday, April 30, 2024 AM
• County making plans for the online surplus auction.
• No public comments.
• Seven bids for property demolition of Railroad Ave in preparation for Sheriff’s Office/Coroner’s building, recommendation back to Board next week.
• Public Works: projects, open positions to be filled, road maintenance.
• Okanogan Wildlife Council presented easement papers for gun club by the landfill.
• Meeting adjourned at 10:59

Tuesday, April 30, 2024 PM
• DNR:
o prepared for wildfire season with 195 available firefighters, 21 staffed engines, Huey helicopter at Omak airport;
o says Conservation District’s preparedness plan becoming model for the state;
o operational grants could finance more pressurized water take-outs from irrigation ditches;
o several national weather briefings indicate “pretty average” fire year;
o 2024 timber sales to total 20M, many around Loomis
• Commissioners Hover and Neil discuss tick proliferation; clerk informs them of washes over paved road in burned area of Sinlahekin.
• High School Rodeo rep asks for discount for upcoming event, says earnings go to scholarships, commissioners to discuss resolution setting rate for school-affiliated clubs on Monday when all three are present, money tight after $2M spent on fairgrounds over last few years, adding sheriff’s deputies now higher priority
• Meeting adjourned at 2:47.
