From WDFW web site.: WINTHROP, Wash. – To protect the largest migratory mule deer herd in Washington, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is closing five units of the Methow Valley Wildlife Area to public access from Dec. 15, 2023 through March 31, 2024.

Speaking of Lewis Butte, does anyone know the story of the trail? It's a beautiful new school trail most of the way up until it reverts to an old jeep road going straight up. I'm sure there's a reason why they didn't keep going with the nice new trail. Just wondering. Thanks.

I like the new trail to LB, it is longer, but an easier hike. Been to the top many times. One time I hiked almost to the top, and I was not feeling well so I went to Jensen's I had pneumonia and I didn't know, he said it was the worst he ever heard in the lungs and called a nurse so she could hear it in my lungs also. But I still made it almost to the very top, before the remade the trail.
