Did anybody hear what seemed to be gun shots in the Wolf Creek area about an hour ago?

Are you sure it wasn’t just a Tesla on a dirt road?

I hear they backfire in certain situations.

My wife and I were picking up road litter yesterday on Wolf Creek. Just after you cross Wolf Creek going north the road turns West, there is a large vacant area where folks park on the right. We found three dead coyotes all with in ten feet of each other that looked like had been shot. They had been dead for sometime. Perhaps someone is hunting Coyotes. If these animals were killed there it would be very reckless shooting as directly down range is 20. FYI Bruce Herron Wolf Creek

Have you ever had your little dog killed by a coyote?

Most of us choose to live in the Methow Valley because we appreciate the natural world.

Several years ago a cougar killed our neighbors' dog. The neighbors made the choice to let their dog run free. While they were all out for a walk, the dog sensed the cougar, who was laying low and obviously hoping to avoid an encounter. But the unleashed dog charged and the cougar defended itself.

As the economist Thomas Sowell famously wrote, "There are no solutions, only tradeoffs". We can try to control and protect our pets, or we can try to exterminate wild animals from our natural environment. There are lots of places to live where wild animals do not threaten our pets. I hope we can agree to keep the Methow Valley a place where nature can persist.

back to the context of this original post... cracks me up all the wieners in this valley bellyaching about gun shots going off- i find shots going off in nature quite comforting. maybe its time to head back to the city, huh?

I would "agree keep the Methow Valley a place where nature can persist." Quit building all these new trails and vacation houses that are fragmenting the landscape.
