Directing Community Theater Workshop, Tonasket

Post by CCCofTonasket » Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:43 am

Workshop series on Directing Community Theater.

This will be a series of workshops taught by Sarah Kaiser and Judy Johnston, both experienced in directing theater in Tonasket and Omak for 20 years. The workshops are specifically for people who would like to learn how to direct a play in their school, community center or church. There is no fee.

We will have 4 sessions; March 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th, all 6:30pm until 8:30pm.
You must plan to attend all 4 sessions, be over 17 years old and have a interest in directing theater. We will limit the participants to 8 people. During the final class, each participant will present a short skit performed by people they have auditioned and directed.

Some of the subjects covered will include:

How to select a script.
How to audition actors.
How to budget your production.
How to block and organize scenes.
How to plan sets, costumes and props.
How to schedule and run rehearsals.

We hope this will encourage some of you to follow that desire to create live theater here in our community. We will have fun, we will give "homework" and we hope you can learn from our experience. AND REMEMBER, space is limited, so contact info@communityculturalcenter.org to sign-up. You can send any questions to Sarah Kaiser at the same address, and she will email you directly.
