NWAC AVALANCHE AWARENESS CLASS-FOR THE LADIES OF THE METHOW (FREE!)

Post by maxjmclaughlin » Sun Feb 11, 2024 2:07 pm

This one goes out to all the *ladies* interested in learning more about Avalanche safety.

WHO: This FREE avalanche awareness class is for all ladies/girls/women/any female identifying folks in the Methow valley! This class is not just for skiers... and is for any women interested in avalanche safety, looking to step into the backcountry, or folks looking to avoid avalanche terrain (gotta know how to identify it, if you want to stay away from it). This is for recreationalists of all kinds: xc skiers, skiers wanting to get into the backcountry, dog walkers, mountain lovers. Anyone who is wanting to learn more, this class is for you! If you're already a backcountry user and want to freshen up on the basics, you are welcome to join!

WHEN: This class will be held on Tuesday Feb. 13th, at 6:30PM, at THE BIG DIPPER, in Twisp, WA. what better way to spend galentines day than with the gal pals, learning about the wild spaces we love so much! Starting at 6:00PM we will have friendship bracelets going, so come early if you want to hang and make some new friends or see old friends and make bracelets together!

WHERE: The Big Dipper in Twisp, WA.

WHY: This course is for women, taught by a lady NWAC instructor. For women, by women! The winter space can sometimes feel a bit male-dominated. Let's get the girls together and support and encourage and learn from one another! There is mountain magic wherever and whenever woman come together for the collective encouragement. Let's learn about Avalanche safety, what some next steps may be, meet like-minded friends and spend time together! I'd love this space to be filled with joy and excitement for the mountains and encouragement that you belong in the mountains, should you wish to spend time among their magic! Everyone starts somewhere, and it's never too late to begin something new. Backcountry beginners, this one's for you!

After the presentation, we'll watch Earthside, a NorthFace film that follows a Baffin Island adventure of four women and highlights the magic of friendship that happens along the way.

Lets celebrate female friendship and adventure in the mountains :)
