Driving up from Wenatchee last Monday (6/10), the smoke was already spreading regionally. Not especially of concern locally—but yesterday the fire doubled in size to around 700 acres due to the strong winds. It's a good wake-up call for us. At this point, its considered to have be caused by a structural fire. 100 firefighters with air-drops of unlimited Lake Chelan water supply. Good luck to all the responders and stay safe.
With the very dry conditions, we should all pay attention to our surroundings and actions. Thank you methownet for your fire report links. It's good to become familiar with them once again this season.

Updated just a few minutes ago: The Pioneer Fire has now grown in area to 1756 Acres. 250 personnel deployed. 0% perimeter contained. The SW aspect, typical lake winds and steep topography are exasperating the burning conditions on this early season fire.
Lots of new closure areas and trails. The closure area now extends almost half way to E Buttermilk, West Buttermilk and Libby Creeks. That's a long way but anyone with structures in the Twisp River drainage should at least have this on their radar.
Use this as a cautionary tale.
