Monday, June 24, 2024 AM
• Commissioners go into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i)—current litigation—inviting Esther Milner (Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor), Pete Palmer (Director of Planning) and Rocky Robbins (Planner) for 20 minutes.
• Nick Bates, Fairgrounds Manager discusses bids for weed control at the racetrack and repairs to the Horse Barns.
• Pete Palmer, Planning Director, tells the commissioner about work by the Mazama Advisory Committee on the sub-area plan. The committee has an intern from Western Washington University working this summer on the plan update, but if very many other sub-areas wanted to write their own plan, the Planning Department might not have the manpower to assist them.
• Tom Even, Veterans Service Officer and others update the commissioners on the work of the Veterans Relief Board. They are receiving many calls about the PACT Act (Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022).
• Wayne Walker of the Tonasket EMS District tells the commissioners (sitting as the EMS District Commissioners) about several problems in the district. Their most urgent need is for a new ambulance, as their best one is becoming increasingly unreliable. A new ambulance would cost at least $250,000 and would not be delivered until about 280 days after it is ordered. The commissioners promise to develop a plan in the near future. They also discuss the possibility of merging the Tonasket EMS District with the Oroville EMS District.
• Meeting adjourned for the day at 12:51.

Tuesday, June 25, 2024 AM
• Demolition of morgue/sheriff’s storage building halted to sub-contract removal of
over-threshold asbestos and lead.
• County website video being updated to include new clinic on reservation, RN
training program, outdoor recreation, national jet ski championship; will highlight
local meat and produce.
• Commissioner Branch called to emergency meeting about future of Economic
Development district.
• Vague discussions about Branch’s chairing of Workforce Development Council, his
experiences with state legislature.
• Reference made to courts remaining in courthouse, Planning, Building and Public
Works sharing space in new building.
• Departments should learn proper language for making requests for budget
supplements.
• Aeneas Lake Irrigation District to receive letter of support for $110,000 grant.
• Assessor discusses possible land purchase in Ellisforde for EMS district.
• Meeting adjourned at noon.

Tuesday, June 25, 2024 PM
• Stephanie Downey, Junior Rodeo representative, presents long list of disappointments after 3-day event at fairgrounds: bill for unused (but blocked off) electricity-equipped RV sites, un-watered ground, lack of hoses, building locked on morning of prom, feeling unwelcome; commissioners say management is new, trying to run it like a business, contract should be more clear; they’ll discuss it at Monday’s session when Commissioner Hover is present.
• Letter to Archeology and Historical Preservation for Courthouse renovation grant signed; architect outlines timeline of what must be done before construction can start.
• Meeting adjourned at 2:03.
