How's the ice at Patterson Lake?

Post by brenttannehill » Wed Nov 23, 2022 5:25 am

More specifically, is it thick enough to go ice fishing?
Thanks.

This raises a question ive been curious about. What are the laws if any regarding recreational use (beyond fishing) on frozen lakes. Are people able to use these temporary surfaces to do activities on.

Evidently fine. We all skied on it one year because of lack of snow. It was a blast. Didn't seem to be harming anything. The grooming equipment was able to go out on it, if I recall.

The only problem I noticed with lots of folks using the frozen lake that year were all the piles of dog doo that ended up melting into the lake afterwards, please remember to clean up after your pooch!

This should be interesting......

Would anyone be opposed to a ATV ice racing circle track and would anyone else be interested in something like this.

Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer" but I believe Patterson Lake is owned by Sun Mt. and I doubt that you would be able to take private motorized vehicles onto the lake. Motor boat speeds are limited to something like 6mph and no float planes allowed to land. Not to mention, you'd really bum out the ice fishermen.

Although Pearrygin Lake might be doable once it freezes hard enough (this week maybe) they seem to have fewer summer regulations.

Patterson Lake is managed by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, not by Sun Mountain Lodge. The speed limit is 8 mph.

The trail along the west shore of the lake is part of the Sun Mountain trail system. That doesn't mean Sun Mtn Lodge owns it. Land ownership around Patterson Lake and Patterson Mtn. is a checkerboard of private and public lands. The Patterson Lake trail is managed by the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources.
